Suffolk Juniors – Well done Peter!!

The 2nd Weekend of Junior Competition saw Peter Dickinson roar through the field to capture the u19 title.

Unseeded due to lack of recent tournament play Peter was in sparkling form sweeping aside last weeks u17 Winner Robert Dadds and then going on to beat Bucks No1 Charlie Wyatt , who’d come from 2-0 to get past Ahmed El Refee, in the final.

Carole Page wins 4th National title

In these days of political correctness we should of course refer to “Masters” Squash rather than use terms like Veterans and Vintage but of course since most of the Squash community will know that Carole ( along with Rob) runs the Arbury Road Veterinary Practice then I hope she will forgive me for using the terrible pun

Boys Under 17 Intercounty Stage 2

Cambridgeshire junior squash players clinched the double this weekend winning Stage 2 of England Squash U17 Inter County Championships. They now play in the finals of the U17 and U19 age groups for the county.

Played out to a full balcony at Histon Road the Cambs “Girls” made a valiant effort to reach another National Finals in the 2nd weekend of matches.

Squash followers will be aware of the boom in Masters Squash in recent years and the standard of play in the Age groups is becoming higher and higher every year. And so it was over the weekend with a variety of current and former international players (including one of our own) taking part.

First steps on the coaching ladder

Twelve juniors from five Cambridgeshire clubs attended a Young Leaders Course at Comberton Village College Squash Club on Sunday 27 January 2008.

The course was open to any junior aged 14 or over, and aimed to teach basic leadership and communication skills, to qualify the juniors to assist at coaching sessions and to provide them with ideas for coaching younger players, with a strong emphasis on Mini-squash.

Boys Under 19 Intercounty Stage 2

Cambridgeshire hosted the 2nd stage of the England Squash Inter County Boys U19 this weekend. Cambridgeshire had to play Nottinghamshire and Warwickshire.

Cambridgeshire started the day off with a superb 20-0 win over Warwickshire. Warwickshire played Nottinghamshire and had a close match with Nottinghamshire winning 3-2. Cambridgeshire and Nottinghamshire with equal ties now had to play each other for a place in the finals to be held in Manchester in March.

County Closed Results 2008

Finals of the Cambridgeshire Squash Rackets Association annual Championships were held at Cambridge Squash Club this weekend with some tremendous matches and results.

Results from the 3rd Brian Fielding Memorial Tournament

The third Brian Fielding Memorial Tournament – and the first to be run as a Grand Prix – was held at St Ivo Outdoor Centre on Sunday 9 December. Competitors were divided into Groups A (younger and less experienced players) and B.

Disappointment for the county men's team

Not even Neil Rossin's beard could save the county team from coming third in stage 1 of the premiere league intercounty weekend, but it did eat a lot of vol-au-vonts!
