THE RUN –IN
So we are at the sharp end of the season again with the last few matches and then cup semis and finals.
So how’s it shaping? Well for those of you who check out “results zone" you can figure it for yourselves- but for a totally biased and completely predjudised view then here goes-
Div 1 looks like going Peterboro’s way with Hunts County taking 2nd place- they are also scheduled to meet in the Cup Final and that should be a cracker.
Div 2 looks too close to call with Dome looking to face the prospect of going up after just missing out last year and Fenland looking for another torrid season in Div 1. For me it would be good to see Steph Marriot stop hiding down the order and start wreaking havoc in Div1- It will be good practice for County teams next year. Steph – trust me!!
Div 3 definitely down to Abbotsley 2 and Comberton 2 – Youngsters from Comberton and “Oldsters” - two of my old sparring partners messers Usher and Hackett from Abbotsley – better get extra beer in behind the bar James!!!
In Div 4 its St Neots and Hunts County 4 going up – Great to see Clubs blooding juniors in this division – Well done!
At time of writing Comberton have staggered across the line and retain their league title – Janet Banks celebrates another league title 20 years after winning her first – and she was knocking on when she won that one!! However there have been several others along the way and she rightly deserves to be regarded as one of the league legends!
Sarah Howlett ( definitely another legend) celebrated by going into hospital and having major knee surgery. She will be at presentations on crutches and doubtless thinking about doing some “court-limps”.
Great season from Nicky Hastings Hunts County Girls and really good to see Juniors, Elsje Van Es and Nayera El Refee playing a significant part. To be fair if we are talking legends – Nick you are up there too kiddo!!
In Div 2 Carolyn Verma’s “Next Gen” Squad look like taking another title but chased all the way by Hunts County 2nds. Not sure but have a suspicion that Carolyn has gone at least 2 seasons without losing- Well done Carolyn!!!
