Sammy Chambers has been selected to play for England!!
Capping a season where he has reached the National No 1 ranking at U17 and become the youngest ever winner of the Cambridgeshire Senior championships Chambers has been called up to represent England in the Individual and Team events at the European Championships to be held in Lyon between 7-11May.
After narrowly missing selection for last years team the call up will be the highlight, so far, which has seen the CRC student accumulate various County and Open titles since starting out with Coach Rebecca Moore as a 9-year old.
Before heading of with the England Squad Chambers will be leading the Cambridgeshire County Boys U17 team in the National finals on 5-6 April where they will be strong favourites to add to the U15 title they won 2 seasons ago.
Most of us have seen Sammy grow up from the little 9 year old who used to bustle onto court to practice at the County closed – even before the players had shaken hands at the end of their match- and since we regard him as “one of our own” I’m sure we’d all wish to congratulate him for his fantastic achievement.
Congratulations also go the other Members of “Team Chambers” namely Rebecca and Bill who’s support has played a major part in enabling Sammy to fulfil his potential and when Sammy pulls on that England Shirt it will be for them as well.
