Tournament round-up

Chambers warms up for the Europeans.

Following a short lay off with Achilles problems Sammy was looking for some tough matches as a build up for the up-coming European Championships.

The previous week’s exertions at the National U17 Gran Prix had seen him a little short on fitness when losing out to fellow England Squad Member Charles Sharples and developing foot blisters at the same time.

However, at the recent Herts Junior Open, Sammy showed a welcome return to top form going through a top class field with the loss of just one set over the 3-day competition and beating long time rival James Earles in the Final

Using the competition as a warm up for the National finals of the County Boys U17 other squad members were also in action.

Daniel McGinn had a good run reaching the quarters before going out in 3 to Earles.

Peter Dickinson and Robert Dadds reached the last 32 but will have both been disappointed to lose despite both their opponents playing above themselves.

We wish all the lads well as they head for the Finals in Birmingham over 5-6th April
